An airjet loom carries the weft across the shed on a stream of compressed air. A main nozzle launches each pick, and a line of relay nozzles along the reed keeps it travelling until it reaches the far selvedge — no shuttle, no rapier, and very few moving parts in the insertion path.
Why weavers choose airjet
- Speed — one of the fastest ways to insert weft, for high output from every loom
- Versatility — runs spun yarns such as cotton, viscose and blends, as well as filament yarns
- Clean finish — gentle, even insertion that suits fine shirting, sheeting and apparel fabrics
- Automation — electronic control of insertion lets one operator look after more looms
Where it fits
Airjet looms are the economical choice for standard fabrics woven in volume — shirting, bed linen, poplin and similar grey fabrics — in units that run long, continuous production.
Points to plan for
Compressed air is the loom’s main running cost, so a well-sized compressor and air line matter as much as the loom itself. They are worth planning alongside the looms.
